Excesses will vary, depending on the vehicle category. Our staff will be happy to inform you about the excess corresponding to the vehicle category you wish to rent.
If new damage is noted when the vehicle is returned, you will be charged the corresponding amount and should the final repair cost (including any applicable administration or immobilisation charges) be lower than the excess charged, the difference will be reimbursed. All damage reports will be sent along with the invoice. In the event of a single vehicle accident, double excess will be charged.
The car rental company provides clients with complete 24-hour emergency roadside assistance. The numbers to be called are printed on the rental agreement and on the rental agreement wallet. In many countries, the number is also on the windscreen of the rental vehicle. In the event of a breakdown or an accident, you will receive prompt assistance. You must always remember to complete an accident report form, if an accident happens, giving a full account of the circumstances in which, the accident happened. In the event of an accident, always make out a jointly agreed report with the other person involved. Please carefully read the rental terms and any instructions provided at time of pick-up.
In case you have a fine during your rental, you will receive the fine notice from the police or from Motolink(depending in which country you picked up the car) that you will have to pay. In addition, you will be charged a fine administration fee.
When an apparent defect is found (or a piece of additional equipment is missing) which is not already listed in the document, the renter is required to inform preferably immediately or within the next coming hour the car rental company employee at the counter in order to proceed to a joint examination of the vehicle. In such a case, amendments must be stated in the document –or a new one must be printed.
Waivers are not insurance. It is a legal, compulsory agreement between the rental company and the renter which generally limits the claim against a renter in the event of loss of or damage to the vehicle.
Waivers are not honored by car rental companies in the case of negligence, meaning the customer would be held liable for the full amount of damage (and not just the excess). Examples of this would be to allow an unauthorized person to drive the vehicle, accident due to excessive alcohol consumption or the vehicle being stolen when it was left unlocked. It is advisable to treat a rented vehicle as if it is your own.
Certain vehicles may enter neighbouring South African countries, but over-border rules apply, and fees are applicable. Cross-border travel intention must be reported prior to rental to ensure the required documentation is drawn up by the car rental company and submitted to the customer for display at the border

As a courtesy to the next renter, all vehicles are refueled on termination to ensure the tank is totally full. Fuel pricing in South Africa is regulated and all refills are charged at the Government legislated fuel price, and a service fee is levied. Fuel consumption is billed from depot to depot (vehicle turnaround facility) and not from branch to branch.
All car rental company vehicles are inspected prior to customer collection and then again when the vehicle is returned. An inspection form is filled out which documents kilometers travelled and any damage to the vehicle (if applicable). A copy of the inspection form is always left in the vehicles glove compartment / cubby hole for the next customer to verify. Any additional damage found on the vehicle, on its return, will be invoiced to the renter.
If a customer intends to extend the length of the rental period, it is imperative to advise the rental company to remain covered by the waivers.
